Nederlands Muziek Instituut

The Netherlands Music Institute (NMI) is the central institution for the preservation of the musical heritage of the Netherlands.

Musical heritage as collected and preserved by the NMI is made available for research, education en performance. The collections serve as a source of inspiration for musical life in the broadest sense.

Among the source materials, mostly of classical music, are countless early prints of treatises and scores (1500-1800). The archives contain thousands of music manuscripts and letters: legacies of Dutch musicians, music institutions en societies from 1850 till today. The documentation collection contains historical programmes, cuttings etc.

The NMI is located in the building of the National Library (Koninklijke Bibliotheek) in The Hague.
